I know that all of the women who have been on this podcast have been absolutely fabulous, but this is my first interview with a licensed counselor who helps adoptive mamas on their journeys every day. How does she know so much about what we need and how to help? She's an adoptive mom too!
Amy has literally surrounded herself by adoption. She counsels adoptive families every day, she trains adoptive families for The CALL, and she has adopted children in her home. So much wisdom wrapped up in one woman, and we get to hear her incredible story this week!
On top of sharing her journey, she is going to talk to us about Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and how we as adoptive mamas can cut ourselves some slack an remember that we have already said YES to Jesus' command to care for the orphans. We are enough, and Amy just tells us that so beautifully in this episode. Seriously, it's a can't miss.
- Grace Haven Ministries offers support and services for adoptive families in the trenches. I can say this from personal experience. We were at the end of our rope with this business and Grace Haven's director of counseling services was at our house within an hour... FO FREE. She talked us off the ledge and provided us with some great resources for moving forward. Seriously, reach out to them with your concerns and struggles TODAY. Visit their website here and their Facebook page here.
- The CALL trains, equips, and supports foster and adoptive families. You heard from the director in NWA, Ann in the first episode of this podcast. They are great and you should check them out. They have no-commitment info-meeting regularly if you just want to gather more information about adopting from the foster care system, and they provide the complete training you need to become an open home. Check out their website here and their Facebook page here.
- Amy works at Waterstone Counseling Center. If you are local to the Northwest Arkansas area and are not seeing someone to walk you through this hard stuff, please stop wjhat you're doing right now and call to make an appointment with her or any of their other amazing counselors.
